Is this site an art reseller?
The purpose of this site is to offer display of original work and reproductions of original work by living artists. The site does not sell works by collectors nor is it an outlet for "factory" art. We display quality works by serious artists. Artists selling through a third party may be displayed either individually or under the third party's membership.

Membership cannot be transferred. It may be cancelled at any time without a refund. In cases such as extended illness or an emergency you may suspend your membership until you are ready to resume.

Why do you not offer any refunds?
We do not charge a fee to get you placed on line nor do we charge a fee to replace your images twice throughout the year. Many online galleries charge a set-up fee for these services. It takes a bit of time to do this for you. This is why we cannot offer any refunds, except under extraordinary circumstances.

What happens when my work sells?
You will be notified of a buyer's interest in purchasing your piece and given the buyer's contact information. You can then deal with the buyer directly, making all arrangements for purchase and shipment. Upon closing a deal for sale, you then notify us of the sale, what the price was, and whether you want your work marked "Sold" online or if you wish to put another work in its place. You then have 30 days to send the 10% commission payment to us.

When I sell my work, do I retain the copyrights to that work?
Yes, you retain the copyrights until you sell or transfer them legally with the copyright office.

Is it necessary to gallery-ready my pieces for sale or could I just use a tube to ship and sell my piece that way?
We want you to look as professional as the rest of us in the business. We also want this site to live up to the gallery standard of the art business and portray all our artists in this professional light. For this reason it has been specified in the Preparing Your Work for Sale section of this site, that you should gallery-ready your images. The price to do this is marginal, often only $10.00-$15.00, and can be done at any framers house. Just add the fee of what you have paid to the framer to galley-ready your piece to the price of your work. We appreciate all our artists' efforts to maintain their professional image. There are industry standard to every profession; art is no different. If you want to get taken seriously as an artist, it is necessary to comply with industry standards.

Is it necessary to have my work framed?
No. A lot of times a buyer wants to buy unframed and then buy a frame that fits the interior design where the piece will be displayed. But often with the higher-priced pieces the artist needs to decide whether the piece might sell easier were it framed or not. Please see Preparing Your Work for Sale on this site.

All I have are photos of my art work with the negatives and I don't have the computer equipment needed to camera-ready my images to upload, can you help?
We have capability to scan photos, slides, and negatives and the software to optimize your images and upload them to the web for you. We don't charge a fee for any scan services needed to get you up and going, nor do we charge for images that need minimal optimizing work. However, if it is a poor image that takes a lot of our time and work we will need to charge a $10.00 optimization fee. Just be sure to send us a copy and retain the originals for your records; any photo developer can help you with that.

I am 16 years old and my mom is an artist that is displaying on your site. Can I put a few of my pieces on display with hers?
We only allow members to display. But we do have a sponsorship program allows you to have your own artist page with us. Your mom can sponsor you into our site and you can display on your own. If your mom has paid your membership as well as hers, she would receive a sponsor's position in the advertising headers on a page adjoining the home page. It is a win-win situation for you and your mom for the advertising link will take the viewer directly to her artist page with a link to your page at the bottom of her page. If your parent is not an artist on our site she may still sponsor you on the site.

My father was an artist, and when he died, I inherited his work. Can I display and sell his work on your site?
This web site is designed primarily for living artists to gain exposure. It was not intended to be used just to buy or sell art; we are not in this just to make money. However, we may make exceptions. Send us a request outlining your reasons for wanting to display your father's works. Be sure to check with your attorney to establish all legal copyright. You can also see the copyright section of this site for help. If you can show your inheritance and your legal right over the images, and have a good reason for wanting to be on this site, you can display and sell his work.

One of our staff has a bachelor's degree in journalism with three years specializing in advertising; he is also an artist. Please contact our office by phone or email for a scheduled appointment. He will work with you on your bio for a reasonable fee. He also offers assistance with artist statements, which takes much less time than that of a bio. If you ever need any advice, just ask. Someone here may be qualified to answer your questions; if not, we provide you with other resources.
